QUIET, SULTRY, WILD, RICH
There's a sleepy, hazy, waviness in the air come August...like when Don Henley's "Boys of Summer" comes on the radio for the 33rd time and you're hypnotized by the heatwaves rising off onyx asphalt.
If you're like me, this month begs for savoring it all. All the warmth, all the sweet ease, all the slow wanderings, all the surrender to what best lies ahead.
Let's move with care. Act with intention. Swim till our fingers and toes are prunes. And let's freaking celebrate our own company, dear ones.
Let this month be devoted to falling in love with you. These things are here to be your unconditionally awesome company.
IN THE STARS
We're in Leo Season, baby lions! Until the 23rd, that is, when we drift into Virgo. Get your fierce self excited for another lunar eclipse! But we're in Mercury Retrograde (feeling it? *emphatically raises hand*) so maybe not too excited...
There are a bunch of people who can break it down for us, so read on for all the cosmic energy and how you can dance with it.
THE NUMINOUS - TAROTSCAPES
BESS MATASSA - HOME DESIGN HOROSCOPE
MYSTIC MAMMA - WTF TO EXPECT THIS MERCURY RETROGRADE
Don't be a hard rock when you really are a gem, baby girl...
- Ms. Lauryn Hill, Doo Wop
Yes, babygirl, we are fascinating creatures, indeed. We can be the hard rock...lift the heavy things, pull our own weight, carry the loads of others, push the boulder past our limits. We can handle it. But us women, you know what we can also do?
We can be so tender.
We can be delicate and graceful and stop-your-honey's-heart stunning. Just like a gem.
We don't have to be both at the same time (all things to all people)...no, we are free to swing from vine to vine as we please and as we need.
This month, and every month forward, I'm granting myself permission to shine as brightly outward as I know myself to be on the inside. I'll live my delicacy -and strength- without apology, without a care, without holding back, without backing down, without pretense or pretending.
And I wish the same for you.
